Pro Rural Organisation, with support from DonateKart and voluntary support from the Assam Baptist Convention successfully conducted a hygiene kit distribution programme for flood-affected families in Sivasagar, Assam. The intervention was undertaken to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to families who had been severely affected by prolonged waterlogging, restricted movement, and disruption of access to basic necessities.

The distribution reached 500 beneficiaries across five blocks, covering families from different religious and backgrounds. The initiative focused on restoring access to essential hygiene materials while providing families with a sense of dignity, care, and reassurance during a difficult period.

Prolonged waterlogging disrupted normal life and restricted the movement of families in several affected areas. Many households remained confined within their homes for three to four consecutive days, with limited access to markets, essential commodities, sanitation facilities, and other basic services.

For families already dealing with the loss and disruption caused by the floods, maintaining basic hygiene became an additional challenge. Access to essential personal hygiene materials was particularly difficult when roads and surrounding areas remained waterlogged and movement was restricted.

In such circumstances, the hygiene kits served as an important immediate-response intervention. While the kits addressed practical hygiene needs, the assistance also carried a deeper message: that affected families were not alone and that support was reaching them when they needed it most.

 Distribution and Community Coverage

A total of 500 hygiene kits were distributed across five wards, ensuring that assistance reached families from different communities and religious backgrounds.
