Overview

On 27^th September, 2025 Pro Rural participated in the “Run 4 Green Dimapur” Marathon as a supporting partner with the DMC. The marathon event marked a stepping stone for the many projects ahead in the future towards ‘Greening Dimapur.’ Participants from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and communities came together under the umbrella of Greening Dimapur. There were two categories- Junior and Open Category where Junior category was given free pass/registration and for the open category, a sum of RS.300 was collected as a registration fee.  In total there were 900 above participants for the marathon.

Comprehensive Insight

The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) organized a marathon that began with a prayer by a pastor seeking God’s blessings. The race commenced from Urban Haat after registration and briefing by a DMC member, followed by an encouraging message from CEO Thungchanbemo Tungoe. To ensure participant safety, 9–10 hydration points, 11–12 diesel autos, and 3 ambulances were arranged along the route. Participants ranged from 6 to over 50 years old. The marathon concluded at the new DMC office with a short closing program, award and certificate distribution, and a photo session. Officials from the District Administration, Nagaland Pollution Control Board, and DMC highlighted the growing challenges of climate change in Dimapur, emphasizing the need for active public participation and better waste management systems. The event ended successfully, inspiring participants to take greater responsibility for community and environmental well-being and to continue joining similar initiatives in the future.
