Some of the communities that we work with are severely under-served in terms of health services and health infrastructure. Villages in Nsong Circle of Peren have remarked that they have not seen a doctor or a government officer stepping into their villages since their villages were established. The neglect of basic health care has a telling effect on Pregnant women and children among whom mortality is high. Sick people are left to the mercy of the elements, as they have no access to a health facility. A primary health center where a nurse is available is a day’s walk away from the village as many villages don’t have a motorable road. Pro Rural has been bringing Doctors and nurses into their program villages with the help of a few departments and agencies that provide them with one-time small funds for its health outreach programs.
