Pro Rural successfully organized a one-day capacity-building workshop on 18th July 2025 at the Tening Town Old Council Hall, focusing on enhancing the skills and knowledge of 37 ASHA workers, along with nurses and health department staff representing Sub-Centers, Primary Health Centers (PHCs), and the Community Health Centre (CHC) under Tening block.
The training covered key national health priorities such as Tuberculosis Elimination (RNTCP), Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), Reproductive and Child Health, Immunization, and the DISHA programme. In a step toward strengthening community-level healthcare, Pro Rural distributed health equipment kits to all 37 ASHAs, reinforcing its commitment to improving primary healthcare delivery. This initiative reflects Pro Rural’s vision to build a capable and responsive frontline workforce in rural Nagaland.
Welcoming the trainers and the trainees, Paul Lokho, Director, PRO RURAL highlighted on the need to capacitate the village health workers, particularly in the remote underserved regions, as they are the only health workers the sick persons recourse to in times of need. Basic equipment like BP monitor and sugar testing machine have been provided to the Ashas by Pro Rural in the hope that the health of the village people can be monitored and reported for the medical teams to follow-up. He also acknowledged the HCL Foundation for supporting the event.
Pro Rural will continue conducting monthly workshops in collaboration with the health department to promote community-based health leadership and improved service outreach.
